(c) 2018 Edward York
I sat out in the audience,
And watched you take the stage.
Your moves were quite impressive,
For such a tender age.
With music in the background,
A pink tutu spins around,
Your legs leap up in motion,
Your feet gently touch the ground.
You seemed so lost in the music.
The outside world held at bay.
The hours you spent in practice,
Just for this performance here today.
You performed each move from memory,
There's no need to even think.
The spins and leaps keep coming,
Blurred into a sea of pink.
You work so intently,
Concentration shown on your face.
The thing that will be long remembered,
Is the smile that can't be erased.

Laser,
Congratulations Grandad!
I love your beautiful and very precious poem for your granddaughter! Ready to be framed!
It is so rewarding watching them perform! I don’t have a granddaughter, but your poem just reminded me of my daughter’s first dance recital!

They grow up so fast and then become parents of their own.
