Tune: Church Triumphant

('The Lord is King, lift up thy voice')

Hebrews 2 v.9 & v.14-18

*******

Children of God, they flesh and blood

So Jesus too partook, He would

Share in the same, [He] divine, human

Came from heaven, the Father's Son

He now crowned with honour, glory

For He did by grace of God, see

Taste death, for every one too free

All from our sin's captivity

So partaking of flesh and blood

He through death He did do great good

That He might destroy him who had

The power of death, made man sad

That is the devil, he who held

That power, by Christ now is felled

And so He delivers them who

Through fear of death were bounden true

For truly He took not nature

Of angels on Him, but for sure

Took on Him seed of Abraham

Nature of every human man

And so He had to be like made

To us, for He our price has paid

He took our sins, He merciful

And faithful high priest unto all

This in things pertaining to God

When He upon this earth He trod

He made reconciliation

For the sins of all, each nation

For in that he Himself suffered

Being tempted, now has offered

His help to us, His succour, aid

When we tempted, be on Him staid

Hey Orchi....... I don't know about the devil being felled........ he seems pretty active to me........

Thanks Lorna. I know what you mean, but his ultimate fate is sealed. Someone said it's like he is on a chain - sometimes seems a very long chain!

Let's call him "Rover"........ woof woof
