My shadow

Middlearth

Its a tangible touchable thing

That sits inside me.

Like a bag of cement

Just add water

And it will turn solid

Take me down to the bottom

Hiding in other worlds

Doesn't make t better

Doesn't make it go away

But it gives rest to a restless mind

Its an escape from the inescapable

I don't get lost there

I just hide out for a while.

Sunshine still warms me.

Green things still evoke peace.

It makes the world go still for a moment.

Makes me focus outside of the mess.

Leave the inside to itself for a while

It will still be there when the sun goes in.

  • Comment from author about the poem: The shadow inside of all of us can sometimes try to eclipse the light - my bright spots wake me up every day and remind me of what's important (my kids). So far they have stopped me losing myself in my shadow.

Good write but what you must know is that the light is always there and will lead you to joy and love.
