Not just for show

Middlearth

 I have moments

Glimpses of sunlight

Shining through the shadows

I capture them in photos

Frozen pieces of time

That I can gaze at over and over

Remind myself that this is reality

Just as much as the shadow that I get lost in

These are not just the shiny bits

 published for social media

I don’t show these for the rest of the world

These are for me. For my memory.

So that I don’t just remember the days curled up

shutting out the rest of the world.

So that I remember that I did it

I was a mum

I shared the smiles and the fun

And their memories of me will be in the sunshine

Not hiding away in my shadow.
