I saw a ladybug today,
While I was walking by the lake.
She crawled on her merry way,
As I stopped to contemplate.
Where has she been?
Where is she going?
Will she ever go back again?
Has she had a good day,
Or only just fair?
Or maybe it's been horrible.
No way to tell, to me she just looks adorable.
Always cheerful with her spots,
I'm not even sure if it's a 'her' or not!
What do I know? I know nothing.
To her I'm just one of the many strange things,
That walk by the lake.

- Comment from author about the poem: I've been working extra hours lately but I was off today. Life has hurled a lot of extra stresses my way lately so I went for a short walk by the lake this evening. The little 'lady' took my attention away from the lake. :-) Usually stuff I write is more structured, (not to mention depressing) but I thought I'd throw this one in for fun.

Appreciating nature is all a part of the process of life. Seems like you connected with it. Awesome imagery. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you. I love nature walks. Good for the soul.
Maybe I should take a stroll by the lake in my town. I believe I will!
I'm glad you decided to "throw" this poem together; i think it's lovely,
and not simply because i also like lakes and ladybirds 🙂
but because its rhythm has a very natural feel ...it flows like the peaceful scene it describes.
A very relaxing piece.
Best wishes, J
Thank you. This actually popped into my head as I was walking. Took about five minutes. It's not my usual type but it kinda stuck in my head. 🙂 thanks for such a nice comment.
That made me smile :). I needed that. Very beautiful. I love ladybugs. Although here where I live they are everywhere.
We had a lot a couple months ago but it's getting too hot now, I think because I don't see as many. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I like lady bugs too.
A pleasure to read - uplifting and dare I say refreshing after all the dark stuff
Yeah, sorry about that. I know most of mine are depressing but it's my therapy and they come to me more when I'm upset than when I'm in a good mood. I was really stressed yesterday so the lake must have been working is magic for me to relax enough to actually write something a little lighter! 🙂 🙂 🙂 I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I'll try to do a few more lighter ones soon.
I wasn't referring to your work but to poems posted on MPS generally which tend to be a tad depressing at times - look forward to more in this vein.
