We've always been together

We always said forever.

But forever only lasts

As long as ever does

 

And eternity is a lie.

 

Empty lies and empty hearts

Cold and lifeless on the floor.

Leaving a heart alone.

Wondering what went wrong.

 

And eternity is a lie.

 

When we were together,

Forever by each others' side,

Totally devoted.

But forever only lasts

As long as ever does.

 

And eternity is a lie.

 

I am determined

To let you know,

My love will last

As long as you want it.

Maybe longer.

But don't feel defeated

If ever ends too soon.

 

And eternity is a lie.

    WELCOME DAVE Thanks for your first POEM ~ very very true and in the last 17 years (18 ~ 35) I have Loved & Lost many times ~ but (in my opinion) "Better than to have never loved at all !" I am engaged (for the first time) but ANGELA (30) is in New Zealand for a year ~ I am praying that "Absence" really does make the heart grow fonder !       Thank you, laura. I read this to my 17 year old daughter, and her first response was wow, youre good at this...high accolade indeed from the youth of today. Lol. Enjoy.
