Do you know that you and I have wings?

Jo March

Do you know that you and I have wings?

Yours are so fine, so strong, and white as snow…

And mine… Well, mine are just starting to grow feathers…

But I keep hoping that they will become lovely and glow

Just like yours

You know, I often have dreams

Such strange ones but at the end of each one

I see you… Your face is turned away from the screen

Your eyes are like clear blue pools in the sun

I tell you that all my life I wanted to catch a sunbeam

At least for a few seconds… just to hold it in my hand

Close my eyes and feel its warmth on my face… on your cheeks… yes

Do you remember what it felt like to draw on the sand?

I always wanted to draw beautiful wings… maybe yours… maybe mine…

It’s so strange, isn’t it?

Sometimes, I look at the sky and wonder what it feels like to fly

At such moments, I want to become a cloud if only for a while

Just so I can feel the playful spring breeze behind my shoulders

I believe I can fly…

But flying is not impossible…

You can fly and so can I

All you have to do is believe… yes… believe

Just like a child in Santa Claus

He exists without the shade of a doubt

Don’t question, don’t wonder, don’t explain

No need… He just exists

You know…

No explanations… no doubts… no useless self-criticism

Believe me… Nobody needs them and least of all you

When the smoke clears and the sky becomes deep blue like your eyes

We remember that the road to Oz is just around the corner

Take my hand and we’ll make a turn…

We’ll stop at the traffic light and it will turn green

For us…

Yes, Gatsby’s green light…

Except this time, the story will have a lovely ending

On this bright, beautiful, sunny day

Don’t forget to bring a bouquet of smiles with you

Secured safely on the seat of your brand new Rolls-Royce

Then, the orchestra will start the music

And I will ask you to give me a taste of your quixotic nonsense

We’ll watch my dream fill your Champagne-colored airy castle

And, this time, believe me, it will come true…

Afterwards, I will watch your lovely enigmatic smile

And feel like my life is only beginning…

With lists of dreams a mile long

Yes, there’s no need to panic… you know

So many hopes and perhaps just as many foolish mistakes

Who cares? You believe in me… I know you always have

And I? I will forever remember how you helped my dream

Not melt like a crystal snowflake after a warm spell

I will forever keep your dream fastened tightly to my wings

Don’t worry… No matter what the world says, it won’t melt like wax

It will grow strong and bright like the golden sunbeam I caught today

Can you believe it? Yes, I finally caught it…

You will help me hold it, won’t you? After all, you know how…

I want to hold it just long enough so I can tell you…

Tell you how beautiful life can be and that dreams can come true after all…

We can have everything we ever wanted… only hold on to the dream

And don’t let it fall…

Then, suddenly, we’ll start believing in miracles

Yes, there are miracles and we are the magicians

Except we don’t need magic…

We already have everything we need…

Everything to make small but such incredible surprises for each other

You and I…

Yes… It’s so simple, isn’t it?

All you have to do is just believe…
