Poem about the Sun

Jo March

There are times when I just have too much to say

Yet I simply don’t know how to start

It’s difficult especially after I have made too many awkward pauses

But I will still dare to ask if you can be my angel… only for today

Believe me twelve hours will be perfect

I would finally be able to tell you just how delighted I feel

Now my angel has come to me wrapped in golden happiness

Enchanted, I watch the smile in your glowing eyes

I understand that happiness does not come for free

But I can try to turn these twelve hours into a fairy tale

I feel almost like I can reach the sky while you stand there behind me

Please guide my hands and help me not get lost in dark labyrinths

Do you ever wonder what it would feel like if we lived underground?

Yes, all year long, hour after hour would be spent in darkness

I sometimes think that there is nothing more horrifying than that

No little tragedies could upset us as much as a life in eternal dusk

The cool spring breeze will lull me to sleep and I will close my eyes

For a few minutes at least, I will dream quietly and think about the sun…

I will hear the sound of warm and gentle seawater lapping the shore

And, believe me, it would feel just like I spent a day in your paradise

Then, when I will wake up, you will put your hands on my shoulders

You would bless me and say that I should now leave confusion and fear behind

No need to worry about the past or the future… everything will be alright

And yes, you will say, you no longer doubt that my white door can open

I realize that I don’t really deserve your wondrous faith in me

After all, I haven’t worked hard enough to see your lovely smile

You know, I am so blessed to feel my soul glow in your ray of sunshine

Yes, I mean the one that is still beaming on your face

But I will silently communicate my endless gratitude in my eyes

You would smile and tell me to wait for a few seconds until you come back

I will patiently sit on the grass and stare at the cornflower sky

Afterwards, I will softly blow my dandelion wish and hope it might land near you

You will return and greet me with your ringing laughter

Quietly, you would tell me that you are now ready to give me a gift

I will close my eyes in blissful anticipation and breathless wonder

You would pause for a second and listen to my heart sing

You will tell me to stretch out both hands and bend the elbows

Then, you will place something warm, radiant, and spherical in them

And I will hear the silver sound of golden harps that will blend with your voice

At last, you would tell me that I can now open my eyes and see my heavenly gift

I will shine in the glorious light of something that has come down from the sky

My face will be wet from tears and my lips will whisper wordless gratitude

You have given me the golden burning sun to hold in my trembling hands

I will feel its warmth inside me as I bless you and my lonely dreams

The blue sky and the green fields will become one with you and me

Nothing will matter except your sun-filled eyes and this burning happiness

I will open the door today and try not to get lost in lonely labyrinths

And never again will I pop the blue balloons of my starry dreams

I will send thousands of my blue balloons into the azure sky

Yes, I know now that the time has come to release them

You and I will watch as they blend with the radiant sun

The blessed happiness you have given me will burn inside my heart

The dusk is now no more as I watch my blue balloons blend with your bliss

I don’t know what to say because I am simply out of words

But I promise that tomorrow I will wake up and bless the sun in your eyes

Your sun-filled face will be too radiant to look at

I understand that I haven’t done anything to deserve such a gift

And yet, you have chosen to bless me and all those who walk beside me

I promise you that I will keep your radiance inside my heart

And I will wrap my newborn dream in the rays of the setting sun

Happiness will warm and fill every person I look at

Never again will I return to a life in the dusk

I will share my sun with as many people as I can

And I hope to erase the brooding shadows on their faces

My twelve hours are almost over but my sun still glows

I bless you again as you go on your way

My hands still feel the warmth of the evening rays

Tomorrow, I will send golden balloons into the sky

Bless you…

HI JO ~ You did it again ~ A great Cantos to BROTHER SUN ~ AMEN Verses 1 - 3 Praise to the SUN ~ Mother Natures Greatest gift to Planet Earth ~ Sustainer and Propogater of all Life on Earth !
    V 4. I've been caving and it's unbearable without LIGHT & HEAT !
Verses 5 6 7 For the past 35 years of my life the SUN has risen each MORNING & set each NIGHT and I know it will tomorrow !
Verses 8 to 14 ~ Every Day all the Blessings of the SUN are YOURS & MINE and 7.5 billion others and all the Flora & Fauna ~ AMEN
Verses 15 to 17 ~ We don't really deserve the SUN ~ BUT ~ We have it (for the foreseeable future !) but we should never take it for granted ! For thousands of years the CO2 in the atmosphere (250 ppm) maintained the EARTH @ 15 C ! Due to MAN the CO2 is now 400+ ppm and the average temperature is now 16C (don't blame the SUN !) and the ICE CAPS are melting and the sea level is rising etc ! By continuing to let the CO2 levels rise we are insulting the SUN ~ destroying Global Climatic Equilibrium and ultimately making the Earth UNINHABITABLE ! Love your Poem ~ Love the SUN ~ but we need a word of warning that unchecked Global Warming etc makes the SUN our ENEMY instead of our FRIEND ~ Thanks for sharing ~ Yours BRIAN Please check my Poem ~ a tribute to WALES ! Also please add a fishy verse to my FUSION on FISH ~ Thanks B !

Thank you, Brian. I appreciate the comments. I will definitely look at your poem (the tribute to Wales) and I will think about adding a verse to the fusion. ~ Jo
