('Oft in danger, oft in woe')

Hebrews 12 v.1-4

********

We are encompassed about

With a great cloud, sure, no doubt

Of witnesses, believers

Grace on us the Lord confers

Let us lay aside each weight

And sin which does strength abate

Sin which does so easily

Besets, ensnares us, we see

And let us run with patience

The race set before us hence

Go on with perseverance

Jesus' presence in us snse

Looking to Him, the author

Of our faith, and finisher

Who for joy before Him set

Before Him endured cross yet

Despised the shame, now set down

At God's right hand, wears the crown

Consider Him that endured

Hostility, life outpoured

By sinners contradicted

Remember, be not wearied

Nor faint in mind, discouraged

He e'er living, has you bid

For you have not yet so led

Resisted unto bloodshed

Striving against sin, but Christ

Gave self, perfect sacrifice
