Said Henri

Clayton Paul

Into the gloom the faces and stares said "are you coming too?" "are you coming too?" They called out his name and then it's musical chairs  'cause the end is coming soon so are you coming too?

The trial was done and the verdict was read with silence in the room silence in the room and nobody cried  when out the doorway he was led it was no one that they knew no one that they knew

such a burden in-between said Henri make your mind up, love or leave said Henri   are you coming too? are you coming too? the end is coming soon so are you coming too?

Maybe you wait around to die read every book that tells you how to go on but what a way to pass the time in your cocoon you sing the same old song

crossing the sea in his mind he is there Henri he sings a tune says "are you coming too?" But the older he gets then he falls into despair 'cause the end is coming soon the end is coming soon so yes I'm coming too cause the end is coming soon

such a burden in-between said Henri make your mind up, love or leave said Henri

Somewhat enigmatic - but what a great read. This is one of the best poems I have read on this site for some time.

    Michael -
Thank you kindly for your note. I look forward to reading your work while listening to late Beethoven string quartets.

I have to agree with Michael Clayton...... this is such an intriguing poem ... we almost seem to know Henri by the end........
