A Bird Is A Gift

A Bird Is A Gift

A bird is a gift

And brings forth a smile

Whether a mockingbird or swift

He uplifts for a while

He always lets us know

That the earth is right

And brightens up our day

With his colors bright

I love to see one perch

High up in a tree

Singing out his song

So sure and peacefully

When aloft on his wings

I wish I could go too

Above everything

Every afternoon

I wish I were a bird

And could concentrate

On my little nest

And chicks that await

As you know I too love watching birds in all their forms.

Yes, I know that you also enjoy birds. It would be interesting to compare the different species we see in our respective areas.

A lovely write w c. It reminded me of a hymn: 'All things which live below the sky'. Not recalled it for years. We had it at primary school assemblies. Have to get cracking and do a hymn-poem to that tune soon!
