The Oncoming Silence

Hesther

Right now:
Birds flutter in the trees.
Wind bursts in gauzy gusts,
To tumble leaves,
In a gentle breeze

Children are playing in a park.
Water fountains splash about,
And a gentle song sings,
To praise the arrival of the icecream King.

In this moment everything is full of life.
Then everything stops.
And everything is silent.
Not even the wind dares sigh -
For they know
A bloodshed is happening.

They remember those who fell,
Those who will fall,
Those who are falling right now.
Journeying to the silent land
Where everything is blank.

A raindrop breaks the moment,
Loud and defining...
But life does not continue normally,
For they know more silence is coming.

WELCOME HESTER ~ Thanks for your first Poem ~ which I found intriguing ? It starts off well enough (Vs 1 & 2) with Rhyme ~ Rhythm & Reason ~ THEN ~ Everything Stops (V 3. Line 2.) WHY ? Knowledge of BLOODSHED ! (Lines 5 & 6) V 4. Remembering those who FELL ~ are FALLING and will FALL ~ Journying to the Silent Land ~ V 5. More SILENCE is coming ~ Life is Abnormal ! Some say SILENCE is GOLDEN ~ but personally I find it eerie ~ The SPOOKY calm ~ before the DESTRUCTIVE storm. Your Poem speaks of a Spooky & Destructive SILENCE ~ Thanks for sharing ~ I am still intrigued. When I visited AUSCHWITZ in POLAND ~ that too was silent and NO BIRDS SANG ! Yours BRIAN ~ The way MPS works is we read and comment on each others Poetry ~ OK ~ You can also build up a cohort of MPS Friends ~ Please visit my Site ~ Thanks B !
