Drowning in tears,
over-crowded by lies.
Crying flames,
igniting my eyes.
Traffic in my brain,
driven by fear.
Screaming silently,
knowing it ends here.

- Comment from author about the poem: I was absolutely devastated when England lost against Croatia in the World Cup semi- finals. This was my reaction.

Congrats on the opportunity and chin up for the loss. Which was not a total loss. Hey, you played a great game!
Thank you for your kind comment. X
THANKS FOR YOUR COMMENTS ~ LIVS ~ It expresses brilliantly what many of us feel today. Especially as with YOUTH & ENTHUSIASM ~ we felt we had a chance against FRANCE to repeat the 4:2 win against GERMANY in 1966 long before I was born (1983) ! If you analyse the game CROATIA won because 1. They were older and more experienced 2. They knew & understood each other better 3. They had more possession and their "ball distribution" was better 4. They didn't panic and took the two chances well when they came. ENGLAND are Young ~ Talented ~ Good Manager ~ Good Captain (and alternatives in the TEAM) much to build on for the EUROPEAN CUP (2020) and the next WORLD CUP (2022) We were fortunate to beat SWEDEN etc to reach the SEMIS which put the BIG ONE (Final against France on Sunday) with in our GRASP ~ it is that which made the defeat by CROATIA so so devastating. Some pundits say ~ in essence ~ we did much better than we expected and should be HONOURED (Gareth included) for what we did. I am an EVERTON Supporter so I am particularly disappointed for Our Goalkeeper Gordon Pickford ! Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Hugs of Sympathy ~ BRIAN Please check my Poem on Turtles and my FUSION on Fave Hymns ~ Thanks ~ B
A creative poem on a poignancy that is common world over. But not everyone can ink on it so poetically and superbly. Kudos.
