Very emotive write. That very first line \"The spitting image of a look alike\" resounds very much with me as my wife is suffering from dementia and she is not the person that I and the kids knew a while ago. I do hope that you are coping well and taking care of yourself as well.

As you are aware writing poetry is very cathartic and can bring some release and relief in the very difficult circumstances you describe. The poem you have shared is very elegantly penned and its content is apposite to the circumstance. I am not married yet but I have faced similar situations with close friends and it is never easy to witness. Because I am a performance Poet I am often asked to compose a eulogy for a funeral. I find it difficult ~ but cathartic ~ and I am pleased that others have been strengthened by my words. Thanks for caring ~ sharing and being so honest & brave.
