Many towns countrywide have bag ladies who walk unseeing through street after street - - a read which describes what rejection can do to the mind of those now homeless....and nobody seems to care for their plight. Shame on our loveless generation.

More and more now, walking street, it seems
Lost are the times, when they too beamed
These scenes have become too often to see
They, not the only ones, walking in shame, also me

Extremely well penned their plight

Thank you for reading my poem, I\'ve not been on a poetry site for over a year and had forgotten how enjoyable reading other people\'s poem was and also receiving comments on my poems. Thank you. Maggie

Very good write Maggie, I too may have seen this lady as I am from Rochester, Kent.
There are many people like this nowadays and it should not be like that, there is plenty for everybody.

Yes MAGGIE ~ as the song says ~ it is a Shame and nobody seems to care anymore ~ because there are too many of them. Because I work in a Vocational College ~ I work with a YMCA (which shall be nameless) seeking to make them employable (numeracy ~ literacy ~ IT and Vocational Training) but of course we only deal with 16 to 30 year olds (M & F) and not people who are \"out of control\" There is Emmaus for Older People etc. We have some \"Gentlemen of the Road\" who come to the Church but Respectable People are often wary of them etc. Some Churches have a night shelter and provision for Rough Sleepers in the Winter ~ we now have Buses with BED SPACES & SOS BUSES & Street Pastors etc. The trouble is globally the RICH are getting RICHER and the POOR POORER and it can only get worse. I\'ll be 70 in 2053 and GOD alone knows what conditions will be like then. We need to take more responsibility for the DOWN & OUT and lift them UP & IN ~ OK. Thanks for caring & sharing ~ Yours BRIAN

WELCOME MAGGIE ~ Thanks for your first Poem ~ a bit UNSEASONABLE but excellent in STRUCTURE & SUBJECT ! I have written a FUSION (you have to check DEVELOPING to see it) on SEASONS perhaps you might like to add one on WINTER. I have just been to AUCKLAND (NZ) in Winter to visit my Fiancee ANGELA who is on a Work Exchange ! Unfortunately though Auckland being SUB-TROPICAL never gets any Snow. Winter without snow & frost isn\'t Winter. Snowmen in ESSEX where I live generally have a very TRANSIENT life ~ \"Here today & gone tomorrow ~ which is very sad for the KIDS who helped to make them. Thanks for reminding us that it will soon be WINTER and the ERA of the SNOWMEN ~ AMEN
Yours BRIAN 😎 Please check my POEM on CHILDREN ~ Thanks B !
