Library Ode

Philip Larkin

 Next Poem

New eyes each year
Find old books here,
And new books,too,
Old eyes renew;
So youth and age
Like ink and page
In this house join,
Minting new coin.

    I really enjoyed this short and sweet poem. The message beautifully encapsulates the connection between old and new, youth and age, in the context of a library. It's quite lovely how it highlights the renewing power of knowledge and the experience of connecting with wisdom across generations. A perfect ode to libraries!
