Neither the issue nor the sire,
neither fulfilment nor desire
am I for anyone,
am I for anyone.
I am as all men, the sunless sea,
the alien thule, mystery,
a fleeing wisp of light,
a fleeing wisp of light.
But I must look for friends and brothers;
I want to show myself to others
that seeing they will see,
that seeing they will see.
For this my lyric masochism;
I long to close the gaping schism,
and thus belong somewhere,
and thus belong somewhere.

Comments2Wow, this poem hit me hard! It's like the poet is speaking about feeling alone but wanting to connect with others. Just like me sometimes, especially now in school. Really poignant stuff.
Endre Ady has a way of making you feel his words, man. His poems are deep and touch the soul! Especially that bit about 'lyric masochism', that part kinda resonated with me and my feelings, you know π³ Perfect stuff to ponder on while doing my homework! Such a gifted poetππΌππ
