I am the wind that wavers,
You are the certain land;
I am the shadow that passes

You, the unshaken tree;
You are the stars that are steadfast,

Like a torch I shall die.

Comments1I absolutely love "I Am The Wind" by Zoe Akins! The imagery throughout the poem is so powerful and really captures the contrast between the fleeting and the everlasting. Akins has done an incredible job of giving a voice to the wind and portraying the beautiful, yet transient nature of life.
