Narcissus

Adelaide Crapsey

 Next Poem

"Boy, lying

Where the long grass

Edges the pool's brim,

What do you watch

There in the water? The blue

Colour of Heaven

Mirrored, repeated? the brown

Tree-trunks and branches

Waveringly imaged? These,

Boy, do you watch?"

"Nay but mine eyes;

Nay but the trouble

Deep in mine eyes."
