A Praying Mantis

w c

A Praying Mantis

There was a praying mantis

That preyed upon a bee

I saw it as it happened

And barely could believe

With its long arms

He caught it in a flash

And used his powerful jaws

To cut the thing in half

I’m sad to say a butterfly

Was a victim too

As the mantis ate it up

As predators will do

I wished there were a bird

To snatch the mantis up

But I did not see one there

To catch the one corrupt

If the bird ever happens

I’m sure I’ll be thrilled

And love the bird ever more

With a mantis in its bill

Do preying mantis eat spiders? If so i rekkon Tesco's (K mart if you're American) should sell them. Wouldn't that be cute.

I know a few savage birds who'd make a mantis look like a sissy.

    Enjoyed your good fun write.

Thanks for your commemts, dusk arising. i'm not sure if praying mantises prey on spiders, but I guess they probably do. I think they catch anything that comes along..

In nature there are predators for all types of other insects and animals but if you look in the mirror you will see an example of home sapiens, the most dangerous animal in the world.

We are, indeed, the most dangerous game.
