I WRITE
Placed on a shelf
Piled high
I reach to grab them
And they fall
Randomly
I pick them up
And my mind shuffles
The words
Which I capture
With a pen.

The nuttiness draws near - October and Hastings. There's one in NZ. A Plymouth too (see Brian & Angela recent poem with map).
I could celebrate it there - on me own! Ya would not have to listen to my ramblings on then.

Random happenings can produce serious poetry - good thoughts here Michael - - - am now off to tumble my shelved books and see what words come up to shuffle. Great stuff again.
Mind how you tumble them - they can have hard corners - especially when they start and end with vowels.

You do need a high shelf to get started.
You channel your little island's wonderful history of words!
Thankfully we have such a rich vocabulary and have so many choices of words with the same meaning - no other language can compete with it.

Great poem! Love this idea of shuffling words! This reminds me of the technique I’d use for the “shy” writers when I taught elementary schools! We’d call it the “word game”...not very original, but they liked it and made them write! The aim was accomplished!
