Getting the Paper.

Goldfinch60

Every morning I walk to the shop,

Two minutes there,

Buy the paper,

Two minutes home,

Five, maybe six minutes,

But

Sometimes it is different.

I could meet Stan

And we have a chat,

It could be his wife, Janice

We stand and talk.

I often meet Peg

Who always asks after my wife.

Maybe Tony is out the front,

And we chat for a while.

It could be Sara.

If it is Tom we talk,

And talk,

And talk.

And that is why the two-minute walk,

Walk to the shop,

Can sometimes

Take over half an hour!

Isn't it great to live in a community - sadly my village is too small to support any shops but we all know each other and it's impossible to walk out to the pub, or post box or simply to pop round the cornwr to see someone without bumping into someone else you know. Love the write Andy

Yes Michael it sure is, it is great to be able to walk to the shop and chat with neighbours on the way there and back.
Helen Shapiro was a wonderful singer from the sixties, she dropped out of the 'pop' world and became a very well respected jazz singer.

By the way it's a long time since I heard HS singing - brings back memories.

          Andy,

A wonderful musical clip of Helen Shapiro; a singer I’ve never heard of...I’m embarrassed to say!

I love your kind of walks!
          Enjoyable indeed!

Love to your dear Joyce and you! Have a wonderful day!
