Paper Airplanes
Each was a piece of paper
Of regular size and with lines
We folded them here and there
And found that they could glide
There were none with engines
But we gave them good thrust
Though the flight often ended
With the nose slightly crushed
Rather than salvage them
It was thought better to use
A completely different plane
One new and improved
We frequently competed with them
To see which plane flew farther
And found the winning one
Thrown easily not harder
There were some occasions
Our planes were confiscated
They’re a distraction from schoolwork
Our teacher had sternly stated

Ah yes, I remember them! A fine write w c. Do you know those 'chooser' things? e.g. Four colours written on the outside. Then choose a number 1 to 8 from the inside. Then an instruction inside that.
It's called a 'paper fortune teller' or 'chatterbox'.
I think i may know what a "chatter box" is. also great fun
So very true, those teachers must have had eyes in the backs of their heads!
Yes. Along with my mother, teachers seemed to know everything i did without ever looking in my direction!
Remember them well and marble racing when we put o sort of hat on the marbles made from silver paper - those were the days.
Thanks Michael i don't know about marble racing, but it sounds like fun.
learning the physics of flight
should be a part of school work.
who's that teacher?
I agree, onepauly. Those planes should have been an opportunity to teach a lesson.
w c,
I remember those paper planes very well. My students were very fond of them. Great teachable moments!
I enjoyed the read!

P.S.-We do have eyes in back of our head!😉
Thanks, Laura. Where would we be without our teachers? I have several in my family.
I’m one of three in my family!😊
