I’M A LONER
Does it show how much I’m suffering?
All this talk
I want to puke!
Oh how I hate these social gatherings.
How much longer, where’s the clock?
I’m in a lather
I would rather
go back home and darn a sock.

You going home for a pot of tea a well?!
Lapsang souchong - ever met him?
Nope, but I met Earl Grey, and spat out his sickly-tasting tea! Bleeuurggh!
I quite like it - but my favourite is large pot of Jasmine tea at the Chinese restaurant and it\'s cheap as chips - err cheap as rice - and they keep the pot topped up for no extra charge !!
Michael,
Not...
“A Loner”...
Just bored out of your mind!
Depending on the occasion, some social gatherings are exactly how you’ve described them...especially for my husband. He’ll avoid them whenever he can; except if it’s a golf social gathering.
Enjoy your afternoon.

I think you're right - I hate small talk and having to think of something to ask. I really am not interested in what an Aunt twice removed had for lunch or her experience at the hospital or the colour of the nurses eyes.
When the hairdresser asks what are my plans for the day I really don't want to discuss my private life with a stranger - just cut.
And yet I really enjoy public speaking - giving painting demonstrations.
thanks Laura.
Very nice poem social interaction is like a meeting of people who know exactly what to say to be bothersome or noisy. Keep up the writing

HI MIKE ~ very droll ! Being a SCOUCER I'm just the opposite (think KEN DODD) and I love a Party and I'm well known for being able to talk to anybody of any nationality on any Subject. I can hold a conversation in Spanish French Italian & German which is a help especially if one is on a Table on a Cruise with non-English Speakers (there are some). Al Scientists are very well versed in the Arts & Sport etc so we can talk about the Colonisation of Mars as well as Gauguin & Bach & Manchester United or American politics etc. Being brought up in Liverpool helped because it is a very articulate City and Ken Dodd is one of our more introspective Citizens. Of course being a Trained Teacher & A Preacher & A Public Speaker & Entertainer (Angela & I even do Flamenco Dancing to entertain the Seniors) all helps. But you and I complement each other which is good. My ART is a JOKE ! Thanks for sharing BRIAN.
h but you're talking about informed talk - no problems there - it's small talk which this is aimed at.
Been here!
Thanks for looking in Jon.
