Speak to one another in psalms,
In psalms speak to one another.
Telling the Glory of God’s word,
Gods word told in Glory.
That we may listen to the Word,
The Word that God tells us.
Speak to one another in hymns,
Each hymn sung to a tune
To be sung in the Lords Praise,
Giving him the Glory
The Glory that he shows us,
As our hymns rise to heaven.
Speak to one another in Spiritual songs
So that the glory of the Lord
Is shown to us all,
The words and the music
Reaching each other,
As we offer God’s Praises.
Speak to one another,
With Psalms,
With Hymns,
With Spiritual songs,
Showing us all,
The wonder of The Lord.

- Comment from author about the poem: Last Sunday at Church we had an informal service called Cafe Church where we sat around tables, as in a coffee bar, drinking tea and coffee while an informal Service took palce and we were all involved. On each table was a jar with strips of paper in them and each strip of paper had a line from the Bible. We were asked to pick out one and read to to the others on the table and think about it. The one that I picked was "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and songs from the Spirit. - Ephesians 5:19" One of my friends said that is about poetry, so I wrote this for him.

A fine write and pic Gold. I best polish up another hymn-poem then. Though, alas, they're unlikely to be used in more 'modern' places. They don't know what hymn books ARE!
But then again, traditional places don't use 'jazzed up' stuff.
THANKS ANDY ~ Love this low register rendering from AKA ~ awesome. My DAD said it took the Hit Parade by storm ~ a JAZZ / CLASSIC. I have this CD in my car and when this track comes on I always cry because I think of My Sweet Angela waiting for me on Auckland's Shore (Please check my POEM today ~ I could have used this tune instead of Now is the Hour ~ which always makes me cry !). I am Young enough to appreciate (and even understand !) the different ways of DOING CHURCH in the 21st C ~ I am so glad you embrace it (Scientists have inventive minds) and that the Event even move your MUSE ~ AMEN. Love your Poem and have printed it to recite in Church. Giod new that the 21st C would see a flood of "SPIRITUAL SONGS" and you Poem embraces them just as important as PSALM & HYMNS (A & M). Your title reminded me that ~ How often I have stood at the graveside (we tend to bury not cremate) of one who has been "called home to glory" and wished in my Heart that I had spoken to them more often. Especially those who became housebound and longed for a conversation ! We have been lifted up twice already ~ by Steve & now by your Good-self ! Love to JOYCE ~ Blessings BRIAN & ANGELA ~ Still in BAY OF ISLANDS NZ !
Doh, ignore me - sometimes. I'm a bit fuddy-duddy, being millions of years old. Call me Prudentius - about the 4th Century, that is! (or, he was). I met him in person of course. But I won't force any style of worship on anyone. I may tend to the 'A' and not the 'M' of A&M, but we need new songs too!
nice poem. It's good to remember that there is poetry in the bible.
Andy,
I enjoyed “Stranger On The Shore”.
Very soothing and peaceful.
It’s a great piece to begin my day with.
I like the idea of “Cafe Church”. Speak to one another...that’s the key!
Have a wonderful day.
Love to Joyce and you!
