From the earth they went,
Up into the sky,
Into space.
Further and further away
Sailing towards the moon.
Then on that day in sixty-nine
They landed.
The earth stood still
As the two men ,
Armstrong and Aldrin,
Were on the moon.
Armstrong left the Eagle
And put a foot on the Moon,
And immortalised the words,
"One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Heard by all on the earth.
But were they the first?
What we did not hear
Were his first words,
“They are here!”
As Goldie and Orchi moved forward,
Moved forward to shake his hand.

- Comment from author about the poem: Just a bit of fun but there is a theory that the first words that Neil Armstrong said were "They are here" but that was obliterated by those in control.

Heehee, yes, didn't we hide in Apollo 10, then sneak on to the moon, and wait for visitors?! I'm sure this is a 99% true write.
Only 99%?
More likely 100% sure then!

I'm sure if he did say "they are here" they would've made sure we did not hear that. Great and amusing piece!!
Thank you Christina, they certainly would have made sure we did not hear about it.
And youve still got the scorch marks on ya patio from where they took of eh?
I had to build a conservatory over that to hide the evidence.
Your great poem has certainly sparked some good debate.
