Tune: Penlan

('In heavenly love abiding')

********

Psalm 96 v.1-2

O sing to the LORD a song

Make it new, short, or long

Say to the LORD, all the earth

Whate'er nation your birth

Sing to the LORD, bless His name

Declare His glory, fame

Show His salvation each ay

Continue in His way

Psalm 96 v.10

Say among all the nations

To people, all stations

That the LORD reigns for ever

Loses control never

The world it is established

Not all things [are] as man wished

For the LORD He shall judge here

His righteous judgement near

Psalm 97 v.1-2

The LORD reigns, let earth rejoice

And praise Him with one voice

Let all the coastlands be glad

Rejoice, no longer sad

Clouds, darkness, they are around

About Him, there He found

Righteousness, judgement, are sure

His habitation pure

Psalm 98 v.5-6

Make to the LORD joyful noise

Men, women, girls, and boys

All the earth praise Him with loud

Noise, praise to Him avowed

Rejoice, with songs, instruments

The joy of penitents

Forgiven, set free, redeemed

Though without hope we seemed

Psalm 98 v.7-9

Let sea, sky, earth, in fullness

Joy in Him, and Him bless

For He the LORD does come near

Comes to judge the earth here

With righteousness, equity

So shall His judgement be

he fair, just, with no evil

Thus shall each tongue tell all

    Good one Orchi.

    • orchidee

Thanks Gold. You been making a loud noise? Or 'shouting joyfully' as Bible margin reference says. Shouting in church. Tsk?! Well praise-y shouting!

      • Goldfinch60

We had a hymn today that nobody new, we, the choir tried it before the service, got some of it write, the congregation didn't have a chance, luckily choir practice resumes this week.

Arrghh, the fatal 'Let's have a hymn no-one knows', plus 'And we're not telling you (the congregation) the tune beforehand either!' Probably not with the intent of 'That'll faze 'em'. Or is it 'That'll wake them up!' Oohh, what was it? Will I know it?

Thanks UNCLE ANDY : For a great Spiritual uplift on SUNDAY. Most of the Hymns sung in the Anglican Church in NZ (and this is one of them) are Golden Oldies but we have many modern ones (on POWER POINT !) as well. Some say NZ feels like the UK in the 1930's (My Grandparents ERA) but it is of course also very digital and covered with Quixotic Wind Turbines. The MAORIS call them UGLYBIGBIRDS ! Love the Psalms and each of your PARAPHRASES is a GEM one for each weekday ! Thank YOU for being YOU : Brian will be back next week with his Odd Odes ! LOVE in the SPIRIT : ANGELA 🙌 (hands raised in praise !)

Thanks Angela. Erm, Uncle Steven here (Orchidee). At one time stage it was like I was in the 1930's, though I was not yet born. I mean - I would have grumbled at: hymns on screens? what, no hymn books? raising hands in church? Tsk, tsk - heretical things! (heehee).
Some may not know what an overhead projector or Powerpoint IS even! doh! It's all these peculiarities about ways to worship. While some 'moderns' may say 'What is a hymn book; never seen one?!'
Some places have 'informal' services. I find some of the 'whooping up' difficult. I shouldn't call it that really. But we don't have to raise hands, nor dance even. But I feel left out if nearly everyone else is doing it.

            Orchi,

            Singing is such a joy!
            Thank you for sharing!

Thanks Laura. Except if it's me singing it? Meooowwoo! heehee. I must stop insulting cats.
