AMERICA GETS THE PRESIDENT THEY ELECT THROUGH
THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE ~ NOT THE POPULAR VOTE !
WHEN I visited Mount Rushmore (South Dakota) in 2001
I was pleased with the FOUR PRESIDENTS they had chosen.
ALL Honourable Men as were many others. The Memorial was
started in 1923 so there could be no JFK or RONALD REGAN !
It begs the QUESTION why so many 20th & 21st Century
Presidents (such as RICHARD NIXON ) are of a lesser calibre ?
GEORGE WASHINGTON (1st ~ 1789) A Great Role Model. He
makes us want to command the RESPECT of all our PEERS !
THOMAS JEFFERSON (3rd ~ 1801) Doubled the size of the USA
HE makes us want to be a POLYMATH & a Wheeler Dealer !
ABRAHAM LINCOLN (16th ~ 1861) He survived the Civil War
(Assassinated) & restored the UNION which was his objective !
He makes us want to be SINGLE MINDED when we are RIGHT !
TEDDY ROOSEVELT (26th ~ 1901) He invented the TEDDY BEAR
but no NOBEL PRIZE. He makes us want to be CONSERVATIONISTS
BILL CLINTON (42nd ~ 1993) "Its the ECONOMY STUPID" Makes
us all want to be ECONOMISTS and carry a BIG BIBLE for effect !
GEORGE W BUSH (43rd ~ 2001) "All immigrants to the USA are
FOREIGNERS !" Makes us want to be STAND-UP COMEDIANS !
BARAK OBAMA (44th ~ 2009) He almost fulfilled MLK's DREAM !
He makes us want to be PEACEMAKERS and APPEASERS !
DONALD TRUMP (45th ~ 2017) "I will build a WALL to keep the
MEXICANS out ~ And make AMERICA GREAT AGAIN and keep the
WORLD out" Makes us want to be anything other than POLITICIAN

Please excuse my irony but you elected DONALD TRUMP and rejected
THE BAGGAGE LADY ~ HILLARY CLINTON. The only U S President
I have met so far ~ for a vis a vis chat ~ was BILL CLINTON in 2004
(I was 21) in Little Rock ~ Arkansas. He was extremely charming and
easy to chat with. I told him I was a friend of TONY BLAIR ~ AMEN.

Well Uncle Michael ~ Things do seem a little odd from the UK. Seems like any Septuagenarian Billionaire (or would-be Billionaire) can run for President and (against all odds) WIN ! At least in the UK we know it will be one of TWO (Conservative or Socialist) and either of them will have some Political experience & acumen ! Although if the the Choice is between St Theresa and Comrade Jeremy in 2022 the outcome is unpredictable ~ but Post-BREXIT will it matter ? BRIAN (UK) & ANGELA (NZ) 😎 🧡

An admirable survey of all the leaders who gave various ways toward what they saw as American greatness - - - some feasible and some dangerous these aims are indelibly locked into hearts beating for peace on this earth.
THANKS FAY ~ I have been a bit iconoclastic ~ but we would all agree that each President in HIS (no HERS yet !) own way has had an impact ~ and in the main the FIRST LADIES have been an Asset and a Blessing ! The American Political System with its CHECKS & BALANCES has been effective for almost 250 Years ~ but it does help if the CHIEF has some POLITICAL ACUMEN as well BUSINESS ACUMEN. Margaret tried to run the UK like a Corner Shop which didn\'t always work. Donald is trying to run the USA like a Building Site ~ watch this space ! Yours as always ~ BRIAN 😎 and ANGELA 🧡
