Gracious Guidance

Tune: Lasst Uns Erfreuen

('All creatures of our God and King')

Psalm 78 parts

*******

Give ear, my people, to my law

Incline your ears, hear me for sure

Alleluia, Alleluia!

I will here speak in parables

Will explain to who on me calls

You shall grow strong in wisdom-schools

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Tell each generation my ways

That they in me prolong their days

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Set their hope in God, not forget

He shall be faithful, even yet

Will guide us, so our hearts be set

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Marvellous things He did there do

Came to their aid, helped them anew

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Divided Red Sea, people passed

Over, each one from first to last

Then o'er enemies did Sea cast

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

In daytime He led them with cloud

And at night, fire as guiding shroud

Alleluia, Alleluia!

He clave the rocks in wilderness

Gave them waters from them, did bless

Provided out of His goodness

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

He rained manna from heaven down

Gave them to eat, thus His renown

Alleluia, Alleluia!

And caused wind to blow, bringing fowls

Coasting their flight on desert howls

They full, satisfied, each soul tells

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

He be their rock, their redeemer

Blessings on them He did confer

Alleluia, Alleluia!

When in Egypt plagues did He send

To render from enemies hand

His people, that they [be]'fore Him stand

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

He chose the tribe of Judah sure

Mount Zion He loved evermore

Alleluia, Alleluia!

That [is] His dwelling, sanctuary

Established forever to be

Salvation flowing whole and free

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

Thanks Gold. See the furry friends (some non-furry) at start of the clip?

This Lord Geezer did a few good things in ancient times according to a certain book... i remember being taught about it.
But where has this omnipotent Lord (not King I note) gone? So much human suffering being ignored by this noble lord. So whats happened? have todays innocents become less deserving of of this lords great deeds?
When questions like that can be answered without rhetorical mumbo jumbo, the christian church will begin to earn respect from the masses.
Until then i can't see the point in worshipping such a deity. (And for several other reasons too).

I see what you mean dusk. Well, it's said that He is still involved in everyday matters today. There's the problem of suffering. It's not mumbo jumbo I hope, but the reply is often is 'I don't know'. That all we can reply as humans sometimes. Seems an easy way out of it, I admit, to say 'I don't know'. They had their 'moments' and situations here - the theme of this Psalm - God and His people Israel coming out of Egypt. I've picked out the 'good bits' of the Psalm!

Great write Orchi - has Miss Berles brought your ink order round yet?

          • orchidee

Thanks Michael. Yes, she is I've used up all my ink, with plenty Alleluias. Erm, putting 'ditto' isn't quite the same. And 'Hallelujah' contains an extra 'H' each time - too much work to add that. Would take me all of about 20 extra seconds.

              Time is so precious.

              • orchidee

Yes - and I might waste loads of time by singing- or so-called! How's Miss Berles?
