Despair

Richard--Castle Donington

They scorn, they judge, they always do.

They'll never know what you've been through.

The sorrow, sadness, lies and guilt.

The in-penetrable wall you've built.

To break it down you know not how.

But help you need and release somehow.

As once was innocence, snatched away.

Dragged to this dark place to stay.

If you'd just of listened to those that cared,

Perhaps your problems could be shared.

But here I dwell in eternal night,

Please somebody hear my plight.

  • BRIAN & ANGELA

WELCOME RICHARD ~ Thanks you for your first poem ~ excellent rhythm & rhyming ~ nice STRUCTURE ! Difficult SUBJECT ~ Despair as the result of GUILT for the past. I trust you found some cathartic relief in sharing it ? The Tapestry of our Life is a mixture of LIGHT (positive) and DARK (negative) threads. You mention in your comment that this poem is about the NEGATIVES ! I'm only 35 but I've made mistakes an I've hurt people. My poem would be melancholy too ~ Sorrow ~ Sadness ~ Lies & Guilt a compilation of all the mistakes I've made. A problem shared is a problem halved and solved. My experience is ~ don't bottle things up ~ learn by your mistakes and most people are willing to forgive & forget and wipe the slate clean ~ your WORST ENEMIES can become your BEST FRIENDS ! I'm a CHRISTIAN (check my site which I share with my FIANCEE ANGELA ~ 30) and through PRAYER & CONFESSION (to GOD and the Injured Party) my CONSCIENCE is kept CLEAR. If you could (and you can !) clear your backlog of GUILT ~ you could ensure you deal with each issue as it arise and free your MIND and CONSCIENCE from DESPAIR ! Hope this helps ~ Yours BRIAN (UK near LONDON)

      Hi Brian .
Kind words which are appreciated, but for myself there is no solace to be found in religion of any sort, for me its just atoms and molecules

Very good write Richard. Writing your feelings is a wonderful release and helps deal with many situations.

Hiya that's very kind thank you....I'm going to change topics completely for the next one 🙂

That is what this site is all about and what makes it so wonderful - we never know what is going to come next.

        • Tamara Beryl Latham - The Poet

Richard your words ring true and the message, I am certain, could be trumpeted to many of our dearest friends and relatives. 🙂

This topic is sad, but truthful and you bring the reader into your direct orb with these carefully chosen words.

When you say atoms and molecules in your reply to Brian, does that mean you are a scientist?

          • Richard--Castle Donington

Hi Tamara thank you for your lovely comment alas I'm not a scientist and although I am very interested in science I wrote those words to religious Brian as an atheist, which is what my next poem will be about 🙂
