It was a beautiful morning,
The sun was shining,
The birds were singing,
And there was I walking with nature,
Listing to its symphonic harmony.
As I walked round the lake
The water was sparkling like liquid starlight,
So wonderful to behold.
It was then I saw them,
Sitting together,
Their dogs at their feet.
Utter contentment
Shone through them,
Shone through the four of them.
The flush of youth was long passed,
But from the way they acted
That life had been wondrous.
So that now they were free,
Free to live their lives,
Live their lives in peaceful harmony.
Their dogs were laying quietly,
Laying quietly at their side,
In perfect peace and harmony.
The though struck me,
That is the way,
The way to walk the dogs.

- Comment from author about the poem: As I was walking around Croome Park I saw these two and their dogs sitting by the lake. I did ask if I could take their picture, they said yes. I had a chat with them, they were a lovely couple. I told them I would write a poem about our meeting and send it to them, which I have done. I wonder if they will like it?

A lovely write and pic Gold. Yes, many folk have a dog or cat for company, sometimes their main company if widowed, etc.
I saw a cat on a lead. It was cruel. The guy has had several ginger cats. The cat was not happy and would go for you if you tried to stroke it. I blame the owner.
I saw someone walking 5 dogs at once too!
Any dogs at Hastings in 1066? Or just me in a negative sense? Did someone say: 'You dog; why did you tell Harold to look up?'
