Tune: Golden Sheaves
('To thee, O Lord, our hearts we raise')
**********
Help us trust you Lord, all you made
Is all of excellent grade
And still you create and sustain
Your works in truth and unfeign[ed]
You great Creator, Lord of all
Will hear who upon you call
'Jehovah Jireh', you provide
And in humble hearts reside
We give you thanks and praise again
Your provision to all men
And women, children, all that be
Inhabiting earth, sky, sea
Praise from all above, all below
E'en those that do dark paths know
Below the earth, all inclusive
Does you worthy honour give
For you have shown your faithfulness
Given us enough, we bless
you, and pray we may use wisely
What you give u to o'ersee
For gifts and graces, many skills
You give us, tasks we fulfil
By strength which you to each impart
And so display your fine art
Fields ripe for harvest, abundance
Give us wisdom and true sense
To not waste food, nor money, time
As we go on through life's rhyme
You our Creator, Father too
If we believe in you true
And in your Son whom you have sent
We forgiven penitents
And your Spirit who comes to dwell
Within us, let each tongue tell
He renews the face of the ground
Blessings of dew fall around
May our lives too be ground wherein
We washed and cleansed, freed from sin
So produce fruit, a harvest fair
And more of Christ's image bear

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8787 8787 metre. We, including humans, are all 'creatures' (created beings), but not in the derogatory sense of 'that person, that wretch, that creature'! Even the bread and wine in some more formal Holy Communion services are called 'creatures'. Of course the bread and wine did not create themselves though.

I am going to the Harvest Fetival at Church today, it sounds as though it is going to be very complicated.
Thanks Gold. Well, we had Harvest, but we didn't 'plough any fields' nor see any 'golden sheaves'. We did 'come, ye thankful people, come' in person, but not in song. Ah well, that's what you get sometimes at too 'modern' services. There were the harvest offerings though. And the singing group was screechy. Rant over! lol. I may go to a traditional one next Sunday.
I don't mind modern, but some of the choruses seem a bit naff to me. Not poetic, not rhyming. They don't have to though.
Thanks UNCLE STEVE its that time of YEAR again HARVEST FESTIVALS ! Except in the ANTIPODES (OZ & NZ) where we are in the Middle of Spring! Love the Tune and the Poem. God PROVIDES Rain & CO2 & Sun for PHOTOSYNTHESIS ~ all we do is Plough ~ Plant & Pray ~ AMEN. Blessings & Love : BRIAN & ANGELA ๐งก๐๐งก
