The Barge

mumiza

the joy of a bankable memory

sun on river

boys sleeping safely stowed in bunks below

smiles

a whole week

only bright light days

capture this and grasp it tight

a souvenir for dimmer times

a bankable memory

blown out of the water

the shock of the sharp stinging attack

apologies spewing from my mouth

yes I am to blame

i crumple

absorbing the slurring beery onslaught

another hope in me shrinks smaller still

grief for the loss of that bankable memory never stored

Disaster at sea! How well you've trumpeted sun and happiness in one moment and destruction and sadness in the next. Your poem expresses the ups and downs we all endure in this life. Great read and thanks for sharing. 🙂

That’s so kind. And useful. Thanks. Have just written another for tomorrow.
          It’s cathartic!
