In they came,
Three of them,
Obviously to do some business,
But as is right
Coffee came first,
Coffee and muffins,
For each of them.
Then the business started,
One went outside
To hear ‘phone call
Above the hubbub of the coffee bar.
A second one opened his laptop
And started typing away.
The third was messaging on his ‘phone.
The occasional word spoken,
But not very often.
That is the modern way,
The modern way to do business,
Just play with machines.

Seems so Gold. How much of it is necessary? A fine write.
Thanks Orchi.
two of the greatest singers ever to grace the stage. Every performance to perfection. Nicely done, Goldfinch60.
Thank you Kevin, much appreciated.
The coffee shop... Is it the new golf course?
I suppose even golf takes too long for the young business person
Great write G
That sounds about right Andrew. I see many small business meetings at the coffee shop we frequently frequent, and most are done electronically.
Bring back the art of interaction - these damn devices seem to rule lives. Fine write and what a sad loss they both are.
Very true Michael, meeting face to face and conversing is much more fruitful.
Andy,
Spot on with your message! I first witnessed what you’ve masterfully described years ago in San Francisco in a Starbucks coffee house...and years later in my home! So we, as a family, had to set up some rules concerning these modern devices!
Thank you for sharing the awesome video! Freddie Mercury and his collaborations...Iconic to say the least!
My love to Joyce and to you!
~Laura~
Yes it has been a disease for a long time now. We too have rules in the house, no 'phones, tablets or any other electronic communication equipment is allowed at the dinner tables.
Thank you Laura.
How right you are! Well-written poem featuring what has become of earth's inhabitants.
It is very rare to see a face-to-face conversation anymore. Loved your poem. 🙂
Thank you Tamara, we go to this coffee house several times a week and it is very rare not to see people on 'phones, tablets etc. Saying that though there is one guy who brings his laptop and does some of his work in the coffee house, he works from home and it gives him a change of scenery for a couple of hours.
Yes, I've seen people bring laptops to Starbucks. Too much noise for me to work under. 🙂
