It's okay

Alma Rose

When you feel the world's against you,

And you want to just give up,

Know that someone loves you,

When the going is too tough.

A helping hand or warm embrace,

Are just a call away,

Please don't feel that you alone,

It's okay not to be okay.

Please don't sit in silence,

And feel like your alone,

Raise your voice and tell someone,

Or please pick up the phone!

The feelings not forever,

The feeling fades away,

As long as you remember,

Its okay not to be okay.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I lost a very close friend earlier this year, because she thought she was alone! World Mental Health day was yesterday. I started writing and could stop till I'd finished.

It's ok not to be ok is often a concept the we cannot accept in ourselves when we are unwell. Nonetheless it is so true.
I was sorry to read of your recent loss. Caring and communication mean so much.
