Paraclete Promises

Tune: Melcombe

('New every morning is the love')

John 16 v.7-11

John's Gospel Series (19)

Jesus promised the Comforter

The Holy Spirit, He for sure

Would come, the Helper, Paraclete

And Advocate that we may greet

He takes up His residency

In hearts that to Him open be

He dwells within, His truth will guide

Glorifies Jesus, none beside

His ministry, to reprove

To convict, convince, to us move

Our part to play, share the gospel

Glad tidings of the Saviour tell

The Spirit will reprove of sin

Will search every heart deep within

The sin be unbelief, because

People believe not, with no pause

No pause to stop to then believe

And Christ as their Saviour receive

And too, Spirit of righteousness

Does reprove, in Christ's place no less

For Christ has to the Father gone

His only one, belovéd Son

And too the Spirit does reprove

Of judgement, world set in a groove

A groove, seeing that the world's prince

Satan, seems to have victory since

The world began, but he judged is

Jesus brings His kingdom of bliss

I said Paraclete, not Parakeet. Nope, not got a bird on me shoulder!

Can a parakeet be a paraclete - when they say 'pretty boy' are they comforting you?
Fine work O and a great word which I might use later today.

Thanks Michael. Yes, could be comforting in that way.

The Spirit is always with us.

You got me there, I had never heard of the word paraclete - I know now.

Thanks Gold. Well, I only knew with a smidgeon of Greek - it's Parakletos really. Nothing to do with parakeets though! lol.
