Catch a Falling Leaf Two Ways.

Goldfinch60

1.

Standing beneath the tree

Leaves starting to fall,

I caught a leaf,

My daughter said

Lots of money will come your way!

Within three days

The bank of Mum and Dad was raided,

The insurance for the car was paid,

And a bill for care was due.

I think my daughter meant to say,

Lots of money will go away.

 2.

Standing beneath the tree

Leaves starting to fall,

I caught a leaf and wished,

Wished for peace in our world,

Wished for the hatred to be turned,

To be turned into love,

Into love of mankind to each other.

  • Comment from author about the poem: When my daughter and I were in a park I caught a falling leaf from an Oak Tree. She said that it means a great deal of money will come your way, I though it meant that a wish would be granted, these are the words that came to mind for both answers.

    A fine write Gold.

  • dusk arising

An old song suggested 'catch a falling star and put it in your pocket, never let it fade away'.
Plain to see the star you hold has not faded Goldfinch.
I share your wishes as i'm sure do most here. I know i have written on this same subject "shall we know peace when she comes, this stranger to our land"

Walk by your river in peace.

One if our friends had a notice in his hallway which went something like “Now that you have reached an age where you can support yourselves you are encouraged so to do!”

ANGELA HERE : WOW Uncle ANDY : I love October and all the cool visuals ! You always surprise me with your eclectic choice of MUSIC each day ! Its 1:15 pm (Wednesday) here and I am free til 3 pm : so just catching up on comments while BRIAN sleeps ! Harry & Meghan were in AUCKLAND yesterday and Ruth & I were able to see them from a distance. That will be the subject of my POEM tomorrow. IT is such a Blessing to have a Daughter : I found your poem very moving !
Falling Leaves have many connotations in Life & Love. I have heard say that as you handle the cascading leaves it means: Lots of money will PASS THROUGH YOUR HANDS ! That sure was your experience ! The second verse "Wishes Granted" is very special ! I like your choice ! Blessings & Love to JOYCE & Yourself : ANGELA 🧡🧡🧡🧡

Thank you Angela. I have been listening to music for over sixty years so I have heard a great deal of it but I am still surprised at the wonderful music of which I am still ignorant, Tchaikovsky's Seasons is not new to me though.
