A Song Of Saints

orchidee

Tune: Sine Nomine

('For all the saints')

For All Saints Day (All Hallows Day, or Hallowmas) - Nov.1st.

********

Counted among the saints, Lord such your grace

Here your lovingkindness, mercies we trace

Following you, our steps with even pace

Alleluia, Alleluia!

The ransomed host, they all by you redeemed

When all despair and destitute it seemed

Then your love shone on us, so bright it beamed

Alleluia, Alleluia!

We could not save ourselves, you did us aid

Christ your Son, the price for our sins He paid

We may now approach you, bold, unafraid

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Give strength and help, that we serve you all days

Your Spirit, guide and teach us in your ways

And all our doubts, distractions, He allays

Alleluia, Alleluia!

O victory song, proclaiming loud and long

Joining in praise with all the heavenly throng

We Christ-bought people, to Him we belong

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Begone all darkness, Eve of All Hallows (Halloween)

Christ the Light of the world, to all He shows

And evil, darkness too His triumph knows

Alleluia, Alleluia!

By grace we are saved through faith, it so be

All may partake of Christ's offering, see

His perfect sacrifice for you and me

Alleluia, Alleluia!

For how else such a procession so grand

Marches through time, the Saviour's chosen band?

Forward, possessing the spiritual land

Alleluia, Alleluia!

'Til Rapture dawns, eternal shore shines bright

It glorious, resplendent to our sight

There we abide, eternal day, no night

Alleluia, Alleluia!

Inspire us Lord, with this hope fresh, anew

Strengthened to go on, each day follow you

Until for e'er your beauteous face we view

Alleluia, Alleluia!

    Allaeluia.

Thanks Gold. Quite a few Alleluias, but there are more in some songs! Of course it's us too (saints), not only long-dead saints of centuries ago. You and I met many of them in person, I recall. At least from about 1066.

Thanks Lorna. They had churches cricket match here in the UK. Very English of course: 'Saints versus Sinn....Non-Conformists!' I'm out of puff singing all this lot!

I really wish I lived there..........

Doh! Sorry Angela. Deleted your comment instead of re-typing mine!
But nope, this is not the silent 4mins 33 seconds music clip. I'm not in it anyway, so... phew!

            Orchi,

            Happy belated All Saints Day!

Yesterday the Saints, today the Souls!

Before I read your authors note, it dawned on me that these fine words were hymn like and could be sung... I guess that's the hallmark of such a poem.... a fine poem at that... N
