The Last Night

Lorna

The soft mud pillowing my head

Will be my last embrace

Prone I see the valley and the sun's last light

My last light

As my comrades and I

Prepare to march into

Our last night

Sad. I wonder how many had the thouights you describe.

Writing in first person is a very powerful way to get this obscene wasting of lifes and suffering across to your reader.

A great little war poem my fine literary friend, and posted on the centenary to mark the last day of WW1.. I have a deep personal interest in that so called war to end all wars and have written on the subject many times... thank you Neville
