The darkness was my best friend
It was here till you made it end
He laid beside me at night
Always seemed to hold me tight
Made me grieve when i felt lost
But then you came and lit a match
Darkness then disappeared like that
i smile more
grieve less
Just to have you makes me blessed
You are now my best friend
Hope you stay to the very end

- Comment from author about the poem: The message in this poem is when the right person comes along (doesn't matter the relationship you have with the person) they can pull you out the darkest of times by doing the littlest things for example in my poem all the person did was lite a match. Just think how small a match is compared to infinite darkness yet that match made all the darkness go away for that person. That's really one of the main messages in this poem.
