Awesome Approach

Tune: Leoni

('The God of Abraham praise')

********

Lord, you are God of old

Your wonders still be told

In spirit and truth we worship

In deed and lip

For e'er in you secure

You our Father e'ermore

We your people, you did us call

E'en one and all

You reign majestically

O'er your creation, we

See your appointed orders here

In lowly fear

Mankind and all below

You each creature know

For you have made each one and we

Your goodness see

Accepted through your Son

He the atoning one

Let songs be sung and praise be done

Excluding none

You, Lord God Almighty

Your face we cannot see

Yet Christ your Son your glory shows

With your life flows

There unapproachable

At Sinai we stall

Forbidden to come near you, for

You holy, pure

But now your Son has made

A way, the price has paid

For us to come, to be forgiven

And enter heaven

You ever awesome, strong

We join the heavenly throng

To worship you in every form

Through calm and storm

Unnumbered hosts proclaim

Your everlasting name

And through eternal Rapture's days

We shall you praise

  • Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 6.6.8.4. 6.6.8.4. metre. I could not find a 'moving clip' with words to this. The original has 10 verses in its full version. Phew!

It's a clip from rather olden days, but for a very famous preacher's Memorial Service.
