Have you seen the word?
It scares you,
Puts the fear of God
Parading around your head
Offering no comfort in
Pausing to let you pour
Out your worries,
The worries that
Overwhelm you,
Making you feel ill
Or scared to utter any
New words that come
So ignorance may be perceived
That shows not your
Reality as the long words
Only belong in dictionaries
Sheltered from your mind
Easing your fear of long words
Subsequently allowing your mind to
Quieten from the horror of your
Unsubstantiated eloquence
Inconsequential abhorrence of words
Parading in syllables
Participating in incomprehensibilities
Ending in floccinaucinihilipilification
Drowning in pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis
Allowing your hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia to rise
Leaving your comatose mind
In a state of pure decidophobia where
Only monosyllabic words
Prevent atichiphobia
Happening within your logophobic mind stopping your
Oneirophobia preventing you from
Basking in the bibliophobia
In the xenophobia that
Attracts bogyphobia.

- Comment from author about the poem: As I said yesterday at the Poetry Group that I organise the subject is 'Acrostic Day' and today is that day, I wrote this acrostic with Orchi in mind as he always says he has issues with long words well in this acrostic is the longest word that can be found in an English dictionary. To accompany this I have put an equally strange piece of music by Philip Glass from his opera "Einstein on the Beach".

If ya had not giving some definitions at the end, I would have said 'Could ya say all that (poem) again, please?!'
Ahh - so it's nothing to do with hippos, that very long word. heehee.
Ohh I knew 'flocci-knocky...' Think that's how you say it.
I have yet to read it this afternoon at the Poetry Group, it could be a challenge.
Just great - some read - I bet it went down well. I have long been familiar with the flocci etc word - it was written in large letters in the Estimating dpt of a company where I worked back in the early 1970s
Thank you Michael, I am reading it this afternoon.
Mea culpa - I'll be thinking of you.
That might well be that I am going to try and read it this afternoon!
Tis a bit of a twongue tister.
It went very well, I didn’t make too much of a mess of it.

Thank you A and B, just a bit of fun but it went down very well at the poetry group.
Andy,
Signing onto and viewing MPS keeps my abibliophobia at bay! Verbophobia is not one of my afflictions because I’m a logophile ... and proud of it! I enjoyed reading your phenomenal acrostic! Impressive!
Let us know how it went with the Poetry Group!
My love to Joyce and you!
~Laura~
