Life Watching.

Goldfinch60

The page sits before me

The words in my mind.

I put pen to paper,

And those words from within me

Appear on the page,

Telling of the wonder of life,

The life which I have led.

Now in the Autumn of its years

But still the words flow.

I look back on my life,

Look back with happiness.

It has been a good life.

My wife is still with me,

And over those many years together

Our life together has been wonderful,

Our love never failing,

I know that it will never fail

As Our Combined Spirits

Go on for Eternity,

Towards Paradise.

Throughout all those years

Music has been with me.

My love of Classical,

My love of Jazz,

Grows each moment of my life,

And each of those moments

Was glorious,

Is glorious.

So much music, so little time,

Even in my long life

Music still surprises me.

I now realise

That the more I get to know,

Get to know about music,

The more ignorant I realise that I am.

So much music, so little time.

My life with Nature is never far away,

I know that My River will guide My Spirit

Into the wonder of the Universe.

The Art that has come to me,

So many great works,

So many styles appreciated,

Always surprised.

At the way Art can move my soul.

Then there are words,

Words that have been written,

Written  on the page,

Written on this page,

So meaningful to me

And maybe meaningful to others.

So many words,

So many years,

Such a wonderful life.

I know that when that time comes

My life will flash before me,

But I know that that life

Will be well worth watching.

Will yours?

A fine write Gold. Yes a very long life for us - you and me, and maybe others too, who were there since before 1066! heehee.
Any anniversaries next year - years end in '19, or maybe '69? e.g. 200 or 250 years ago, etc? Oh the moon landings 1969. We were there to greet the first earthlings!

    • Goldfinch60

Thank you Orchi. Yes the moon landing should be celebrated as they denied we were there.

      • orchidee

Denying life on the moon? Preposterous! We been there for centuries - us two anyway.

I wish I live to write a brilliant poem such as this when I'm 70 (I'm 35). This poem oozed with wisdom, reflection and humblenes.

The line "So much music, so little time" really stuck out to me.

        Great write - Syd

You are most kind Syd, I am sure your life will be wonderful.

        • Michael Edwards

Life is but a thin veneer. When I lost consciousness through blood loss the other week and before being resuscitated I felt as if I were in a calm place floating in air and wondering if this was the end - thankfully they revived before they needed the the defib but for me it was a surreal experience. Yes my life will be worth watching.

          • Goldfinch60

It certainly will Michael, your artwork will show how blessed your life is.

“And those words from within me
            Appear on the page,”
True, creation, where does it come from? Nice work!

That creation is always a wonderment to me as many poems that I write seem to just write themselves.

True, an ideal will pop into my head, I start to write and it seems
to just flow till its “natural” conclusion.

I loved this. My wife is still with me as well even after all those years passed through us. Beautiful job.

                  Thank you Edward, most kind.

Goldfinch60, your poem expresses the joy of a life well-lived and it is so thoughtful of you to include your wife in your blessings. I loved this poem.

You speak of classical music and I don't know if I'm allowed to include someone else's video on this site due to copyright infringement, so I'll just give the url on google.

You have got to hear this young opera singer from the Canary Islands, Spain.

She is the second song on this website and her name is Sislena Caparrosa. Although she is mistakenly referred to as Pavarotti's granddaughter on Google, she is not.

Nessun Dorma. Check it out. Second song. I actually cried. She is that good.

or here she is as the opening singer at the soccer games.

Thank you for your kind words Tamara, I believe I have had,and am having, a good life.

That young lady is very good, I can understand her being referred to as Pavarotti's granddaughter as some of her expressions do remind me of him. She will go far in the operatic world.
