Tune: Deus Tuorum Militum
(('Awake, awake, fling off the night')
********
If bright our hearts, if bright our ways
Or seeming dark now be our days
Come shine your light, beams burst upon
Your people, children every one
Thankful in times of ease or care
And where be troubles anywhere
Help us be humble, wait your time
For your guidance throughout life's rhyme
Not trusting to feelings alone
But you Lord God by faith be known
That sure foundation, planting roots
From whence we bud, produce good shoots
Earth's temporary joys we hold
Though you have more, a hundredfold
Of heaven's joys, eternal bliss
Salvation in you, we know this
So on through each day, then at night
Grant us sweet sleep now in your sight
And to awake refreshed, renewed
With your fine graces, gifts endued

- Comment from author about the poem: A hymn-poem in 8.8.8.8. metre. The tune in the clip is different to the one I know for the hymn. I still gotta pay this guy overtime. I keeps wheeling him out to play!
