dusk arising

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion, too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

  • Comment from author about the poem: john lennon (9th October 1940 - 8th December 1980). Murdered 40 years ago today.\r\nI dont care what you think of john lennon, he was an imperfect soul like all the rest of us. I am not a fan.\r\nOne thing he did though which was truly amazing was, inspired by the words of his wife yoko, he wrote the most beautiful verses which i repeat here.\r\nThese words superceed any religious teachings for they are words for and from the heart of everyman and woman. These words tell of harmony and peace - an alternative to the religion which has always caused war and suffering.

A special song by John Lennon, thank you for reminding us.
That last verse is so special - if only?

These words have been important since the day they were first written.. I imagine they will always be important .. at least they ought to be.... N
