The Seal of the confessional can hide so many crimes.

    • Michael Edwards

It appears that the confessional is slowly fading into the anals of history.

A fine write and pic M. Some may gossip about others sins. Oohh. They want juicy details. It's naughty!
      Miss Berles told me...…...swoon, I can't say!

      • Michael Edwards

I don't go in for Gossipa Berles - I'm not a gossipable person. By the way did you hear about....

        Michael,

        A heavy burden to bear!
        It may never be unloaded...
        ...lest be defrocked!

I enjoyed the shortie along with your beautiful painting! Is that the same church you’ve depicted in other paintings you’ve posted?

        ~Laura~

        • Michael Edwards

Yes I have posted other views of this church - it's a 12th century church about 200yds from my house here in the village.

          • Laura🌻

            I thought I recognized it!

            Love it!

Yes seal it is Michael - perceptive write and gorgeous water-colour.

I'm not Catholic but I had many friends who were (not so much now as they have all given up).... but I used to think "how therapeutic to be able to talk to someone you trust with your problems - and it's not as if you are paying them to listen"........ but now imagine confessing all your innermost secrets to a pedophile in the next box......... ooops.... cast not the first stone but hope he catches this one in the head. And another thing (and please forgive this as I am in a giddy mood and that is most dangerous) but both today and yesterday when I saw "Shortie" the first imagine in my mind was a pair of boxer shorts........ why? Who knows but that somewhat set the tone for my replies...... you set me off!

            • Michael Edwards

Well aint that a coincidence - went into town this morning and bought three pairs - you say you had them on your mind - well when I showed them to my wife I put them on my head - please don't ask why...! Think I'll go outside and dance a floral dance - aint the world grand.

              • Michael Edwards

My wife's a devout Catholic and hasn't been to confessional in years - I must say I could never go even if I were a Catholic - also in times of trouble there is absolutely no way I could discuss my own private affairs with a stranger.
This modern nonsense about 'counselling' just leaves me cold.

The church is a lovely building on my doorstep and still sporting individual pews - thanks Brian.

the seal of approval guarantees depravity...
I wonder how many have confessed minor sins, to those who have themselves committed far greater ones ..

                  • Michael Edwards

Theres a thought - I wonder too. Cheers Neville
