Shepherds Sightings

Tune: Yorkshire

('Christians awake, salute the happy morn')

Luke 2 v.8-20 part

*******

The shepherds said, Let us to Beth'lem go

And see this thing told to us, and then so

We shall for ourselves view what we have heard

Thus be confirmed to us the angel's word

The Lord has made it known to us, so we

Shall leave our sheep a while and go quickly

Then did they find Mary, Joseph, and babe

Jesus Christ, Son of God, who came to save

Lying there in a manger stall, food trough

Of animals, it sufficed, was enough

For He did come in His humility

And from our sins He sure would set us free

When this sight they saw, they told the saying

Which the angel that night to them did bring

"Fear not, for behold, I bring good tidings

Of great joy to you, earth and heaven sings

It shall be unto all the people, for

To you is born a Saviour evermore"

"Born in city of David, Christ the Lord

It shall all be according to His word

And this shall be the sign to you, you shall

Find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and tell

That He is the one, in a manger laid

There you shall find Him to the world displayed"

And all who heard this message did wonder

At what they heard, but Mary did ponder

Them all in her heart, meditatively

Then shepherds returned to sheep joyfully

Praising God for all they had heard and seen

For their journey to Bethlehem had been

Thanks B&A. I only does it to gain extra hearts - do I?! So I'm working to earn my own salvation? Noooo! (heehee). Erm, were there three kings? It don't say. It says three gifts. Oh well, 'We three Kings of Occident are' don't sound right - if they had come from the West.
