HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL AT MPS

Michael Edwards

EM OR UM

Should it be ‘em’ or should it be ‘um’

I could try more ‘m’s’ (just for fun)

for ‘emmm’ or ‘ummm’ has more of a ring

and works in lyrics if you should sing.

Perhaps an ‘r:  would that work too?

Well ‘Ermmmm’ sounds good if you think it through

but somehow  urmmm  doesn’t work so well:

say it out loud, it’s easy to tell.

So it seems like ermmm is the word of the day

but hang on a moment – allow me to say

I’m not so sure - my mind’s gone a blur;

 on second thoughts………..

………………… I much prefer ‘Errrr’.

Oh lol good write M. Happy New Year Greetings to you too!
What does Miss Berles use? Erm or Umm or what?

        • Michael Edwards

She uses Phhht quite a lot - she is very intolerant especially if you get the syllable count wrong.

          • orchidee

Every time one uses Erm or Urm, etc, is another syllable used up! How many syllables ration per day does she give us?

            • Michael Edwards

Syllable ration - well let me think - errr well there are 2 in bacon. And 17 in a full English.
              Does this help?

              • orchidee

Yes thanks - now I'm hungry though! How about 'Ahem' or 'Teehee'? - both fairly saucy! Teehee seems more saucy than 'Heehee'. I must stop talking rubbish now. lol.

                • Michael Edwards

Is that saucy as in tomato or brown to go with the full English?
