I wonder,
I wonder if anyone will be out,
Be out and will join me,
Join me in a midnight drink.
Every New Year’s Eve I am there
There outside my front door
Just after midnight,
Bottle of scotch and glasses to hand,
Willing to give anyone a drink.
But people just do not come out,
Do not come at midnight any more
So the scotch is just for me.
I look up to the heavens
And wish all good cheer,
And drink to their health
Each and every New Year.

- Comment from author about the poem: In nearly forty years, since my wife and I have been married I have carried on a family tradition of going outside just after midnight at the New Year with a bottle of scotch and some glasses and only once has anybody been around to drink with me. In the past during my parents time we used to have parties in the street at midnight.

If I lived closer I'd drink with you. In fact I've been in Chipping Norton - not so far away - pity I'm not there now or I might have taken you up on the offer. Anyway all the best Andy and tonight - a toast to the stars.
Thank you Michael, been through Chipping Norton many times, had a meal there once in a pub whose name I have forgotten.
I raise a glass to you, happy New Year.
I could turn up - the uninvited guest, cos of the water! heehee.
You would be more that welcome Orchi.
Make mine a Delwhinnie Gold and I'm there.. Cheers and I'll drink to that sir
I haven't got that one at the moment but you would have a choice of:
Laproaigh Triple Wood - my absolute favourite
Auchentschan Three Wood
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Talisker Single Malt
B.N.J - The Bailie Nicol Jarvie - A Christmas present from our daughters partner
Jura Origin - That is for a friend of mine who drinks it when he comes round
Ha.. I had the Ardbeg a couple of evenings ago & the Talisker.. enjoy
Nice tradition. Happy New year to you
Thank you Joanna, Happy New Year.
I'll be with you in spirit. I wish you and yours well in 2019. May your troubles and burden rest lighter upon you and your insights grow in wisdom.
Thank you d a, most kind.
