The year gone

P.H.Rose

The year gone

As 2018 walks away
I say a long goodbye
You were a year of
crown and thorns.
Although gone you
will forever be
Here at my side.
I will never forget
You.
Although I walked
in dreams of old
I feel you here
As new as snow
This Days last long
forgotten sign.
Time is but a breath
Used but still here
Will sit with me
Until I use my last.

  • Comment from author about the poem: We lost our nephew back in February, the 13th to be precise, day before Valentine's Day, I'm sat here half way through a bottle of spice rum and this poem came to me.. I've written a poem about the day we buried him which I'll post another day... Never let a day go by without a hug... Phone call or a letter....there is no other time like the present....
